COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ONE-ACT
THE ONLY ISSUE is the eighth Community Conversation One-Act produced by Summit Performance Indianapolis.In partnership with Dr. Sally Wasmuth of
the IU Department of Occupational Therapy, Summit produces original social
justice-themed one-act plays.The scripts are created by local artists using the content of interviews conducted by Dr. Wasmuth and her team.
There will be a moderated panel discussion immediately following the production.

Shawnté P. Gaston is very excited to be a part of another production with Summit Performance. She is a proud company member for the Indianapolis Shakespeare Company and the Sapphire Theatre Company. Some of her favorite shows she’s been in include Spay, Ricky 3, A Very Phoenix Xmas Returns: The Return of the Very Phoenix Xmas, The Convent, Comedy of Errors, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Rent, As You Like It, Yas Twain, A Very Phoenix Xmas: Merry Superstitious, A Madwoman’s Late-Nite Cabaret, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Lysistrata. She can also be seen performing in classrooms as a teaching artist for several theatre companies. Shawnté is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana.
As an actor, director, and educator, Julie Mauro Lehner has collaborated with many theatres including React Youth Theatre, the IRT, the Phoenix Theatre, NoExit Performance, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago, and Handong University in Pohang, South Korea. Most recently she directed Summit's staged reading production of Helen. She's a two-time IndyFringe DivaFest winning playwright and was named one of Indy's “Top Five Actresses To Watch” (Skyblueblog). She is so excited to work with Summit again and delighted to step onstage after a long hiatus. She sends so much love and gratitude to everyone joining the show tonight, especially husband Joseph and her five children.
Carrie Ann Schlatter has been seen at various venues around town for years, working with companies like Summit Performance Indianapolis, Phoenix Theatre Indianapolis, Storefront Theatre of Indianapolis, American Lives Theatre, Approxima Productions and Southbank Theatre Company. Some of her favorite past roles include Henrietta in Silent Sky, Angela in Natural Shocks, Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Emily Dickinson in The Belle of Amherst.
Reba the Amazing Upcycled Puppet is a native of Titusville, PA. She enjoys oaky white wines, galvanizing conversations about global environmental change, and Jazzercise. This is her professional acting debut.
Julie Dixon (director) is glad to be working with Summit Performance Indianapolis again after directing last summer’s Community Conversation One-Act, Do No Harm. A Connecticut native, she has worked on both the East and West coasts before ending up in Indiana where she teaches at Indiana State University.
Bella Hartman (stage manager) has been stage managing with local community theatres for the last 10 years. Recent shows include The Bodyguard (2023, Footlite Musicals), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (2022, 2018 Zach & Zack), The Wild Party (2022, Footlite Musicals). Upcoming projects include Caroline, or Change at Footlite Musicals
